What SEO actually costs in Pune in 2026 — and what you get for it

SEO quotes in Pune range from ₹6,000 to ₹1,50,000 a month for the same words on a proposal. Here is what the money actually buys at each level.

The most common question we get is also the hardest to answer honestly: what does SEO cost? The reason quotes vary tenfold is that SEO is not a product. It is a number of skilled hours applied to your specific competitive situation, and two businesses in the same category can need completely different amounts of work.

What drives your price up or down

  • Competition for your terms. "Interior designer in Pune" is a knife fight. "Modular kitchen dealer in Undri" is winnable in months.
  • The state of your website. A fast, well-structured site needs optimisation. A slow, thin, template site needs rebuilding first.
  • Geographic scope. One locality is cheap. Pune-wide is moderate. Pan-India is a different budget entirely.
  • Content volume required. Ranking for service terms needs service pages; ranking for research terms needs an ongoing publishing programme.
  • Whether links are needed. In some categories, on-page and local signals are enough. In others, nothing moves without authority building.

The realistic tiers

₹8,000 – ₹15,000 per month

This buys maintenance, not growth: Google Business Profile management, a handful of profile posts, basic on-page fixes and a monthly report. It is a reasonable spend for a single-location service business that only needs to defend a local map pack position it already holds. It will not win competitive organic rankings, and anyone claiming otherwise is subsidising your account with automation.

₹20,000 – ₹40,000 per month

The realistic entry point for genuine local SEO in Pune. Expect a technical audit and fixes, optimisation of your core service pages, structured data, two to four content pieces a month, active review generation, citation cleanup and monthly reporting against rankings and enquiries. Most single-city businesses live here and get good results within four to eight months.

₹50,000 – ₹90,000 per month

Multi-location or genuinely competitive categories — healthcare, real estate, education, legal. Adds serious content velocity, digital PR and link acquisition, conversion rate work, dedicated landing pages per locality and per service, and a strategist actively steering rather than an executive ticking boxes.

₹1,00,000+ per month

National ambitions, e-commerce catalogues, or organisations where organic is the primary acquisition channel. At this level you are funding a small dedicated team, not a share of one.

Key takeaway

Rough rule: a competent SEO professional's time costs roughly ₹1,200–₹2,500 an hour to deliver. Divide your quote by that and you will know how many hours you are really buying.

What should always be included

  1. 01Full access for you to Google Search Console, GA4, Business Profile and any tool used for reporting.
  2. 02A documented keyword map showing which page targets which query — no map, no strategy.
  3. 03Technical health: Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, indexation, internal linking, schema.
  4. 04Content that is written for your customers, reviewed by someone who understands your business, and published on pages you own.
  5. 05Reporting that ties rankings to sessions, and sessions to calls, forms and WhatsApp enquiries.
  6. 06A named point of contact and a monthly call where you can ask why.

How long before it pays back

Local map pack movement often appears within four to eight weeks because profile signals update quickly. Organic rankings for service pages typically move meaningfully between months three and six. Competitive head terms take six to twelve months. Content-led long-tail traffic compounds slowly and then all at once — the pieces you publish in month two are usually the ones producing enquiries in month seven.

Judge the first ninety days on leading indicators, not revenue: impressions in Search Console, number of distinct keywords ranking, average position trend, map pack visibility and the volume of profile calls. If those are all flat at day ninety, something is wrong with the work, not the timeline.

Where money gets wasted

  • Paying for rankings on keywords nobody in Pune searches, then celebrating position one.
  • Blog posts written to a word count instead of to a search intent.
  • Link packages, guest post farms and PBNs — cheap now, expensive when a manual action arrives.
  • Rebuilding a website mid-campaign without redirect mapping, wiping out everything gained.
  • Running SEO with no conversion tracking, so nobody can prove or disprove value.

The cheapest SEO is the SEO that works. A ₹35,000 retainer producing fifteen qualified enquiries a month is dramatically cheaper than a ₹10,000 retainer producing none — and both cost you twelve months either way.
